How it works
Every technique on PromptShot follows the same two-step pipeline. Once you see the shape, you can plug your own character + topic into any of the 19 cases below and reproduce a result in a few minutes.
Generate a reference image with GPT Image 2
GPT Image 2 (released April 2026) is unusually good at one thing other image models still struggle with: rendering a single image that contains an ordered sequence of panels. A 4×4 grid of poses, a 3×3 storyboard, a 12-panel fast-cut montage — it follows the layout instructions cleanly and keeps the character identity consistent across all panels.
That "layout instruction" is the actual technique. Different creators write it different ways:
- Tagged DSL — eight
[VISUAL STYLE]/[GRID LAYOUT]/[CHARACTER]sections - Plain prose — one paragraph describing the grid + character + style
- Cinematic shotlist — scene-by-scene narrative with shot types
All three shapes work. The choice depends on how much control you need vs how much model improvisation you want.
Animate with Seedance 2.0
Feed the grid image you just generated into Seedance 2.0 as a reference. Add a short directional prompt — and that's it. The model reads panel positions as a temporal timeline and outputs a continuous video that follows the sequence.
The Seedance prompts are surprisingly short. A community experiment by @Iancu_ai ran a 1500-word cinema-grade prompt against a single sentence and the short prompt won — same character, same 15 seconds. Seedance rewards directional clarity over exhaustive description. The canonical shape is:
Character from Image 1 performs the [topic] based on the breakdown in Image 2. Smooth transitions, beat-synced. ~1 second per panel.
When you need more control — branded ads, music-synced choreography, exact pose reproduction — switch to the long [TAG]-section form (see @Kashberg_0's 13-section K-pop prompt).
Why this shape went viral
Before GPT Image 2 (April 2026), there was no easy way to generate a multi-panel reference image that held character consistency across panels. Creators had to draft storyboards by hand or run dozens of single-image generations and hope the character looked the same in each.
GPT Image 2 changed that. Combined with Seedance 2.0's ability to read multi-panel references as temporal sequences (announced one week later), the pipeline became reproducible: the same prompt skeleton, with only the topic swapped, produces working videos for dance, household chores, K-pop choreography, cinematic shorts, comic page animations, and more.
